A Barnet resident is proving it’s never too late to learn, as he’s made a dramatic career change aged 43. Adam, from Edgware, worked in The City of London for over 20 years in the Lloyds insurance market, when a desire to be his own boss led him to hit the books 25 years after leaving school.
He has now set up his own business, having retrained as a plumber.
Adam said: “All my life I worked as an employee for someone else and I wanted to become self-employed and be my own boss whilst maintaining the high income I was used to. I did lots of research into plumbing and read up on it a great deal. I have always been a practical hands-on type of person and plumbing had always been a keen interest of mine.”
Adam started his under pinning knowledge training and completed the practical part of his training with us. Adam says “The opportunity to complete my NVQ in record time saved so much time and effort and gave me a great confident boost to go on to start up my own business, without that it wouldn’t have been possible, there’s no way I could have completed my NVQ training this way, anywhere else.”
